sanjay ne kaha-‘panh‍duputr raja yudhishthir apane mantriyoan sahit sakushal haian aur pahale apake samane jo unaka rajh‍y aur dhan adi unh‍hean praph‍t tha, use pun: vapas lena chahate haian. ve vishuddhabhav se dharm aur arth ka sevan karane vale, manash‍vi, vidvan dooradarshi or shilavan haian. bharat! panh‍dunandan yudhishthir ki drishti mean anh‍y dharmoan ki apeksha daya hi param dharm hai. ve dhanasangrah ki apeksha dharm-palan ko hi shreshh‍th manate haian. unaki buddhi dharmavihin evan nishh‍prayojan sukh tatha priy vash‍tuoan ka anusaran nahian karati hai. maharaj! soot mean bandhi huee kathaputali jis prakar doosaroan se prerit hokar hi nrith‍y karati hai, usi prakar manushh‍y paramath‍ma ki prerana se hi prath‍yek kary ke liye cheshh‍ta karata hai.

panh‍dunandan yudhishthir ke is kashh‍t ko dekhakar maian yah manane laga hooan ki manushh‍y purusharth ki apeksha daiv (eeshrvariy) vidhan hi balavan hai. apaka karmadosh ath‍yant bhayankar, avarnaniy tatha bhavishh‍y mean pap evan du:kh ki prapti karane vala hai. ise bhi dekhakar maian isi nishchay par pahuancha hooan ki paramath‍ma ka vidhan hi pradhan hai. jab tak vidhata chahata hai, tabhi tak yah manushh‍y simit samay tak hi prashansa pata hai. jaise sarp purani keanchul ko, jo sharir mean thahar nahian sakati, utarakar chamak uthata hai, usi prakar ajatashatru vir yudhishthir pap ka parith‍yag karake aur us pap ko ap par hi chho dakar apane sh‍vabhavik sadachar se sushobhit ho rahe haian. maharaj! jara ap apane karm par to dhh‍yan diyiye.

dharm aur arth se yukh‍t jo shreshh‍th purushoan ka vh‍yavahar hai, apaka bartav usase sarvatha viparit hai. rajan! isi ke karan is lok mean apaki nianda ho rahi hai aur pun: paralok mean bhi apako papamay naraka ka du:kh bhogana p dega. bharatavanshashiromane! ap is samay apane putroan ke vash mean hokar panh‍davoan ko alag karake akele unaki sari samh‍patti le lena chahate haian; pahale to isaki saphalata mean hi sandeh hai.[1] is bhoomanh‍dal mean is adharm ke karan apaki b di bhari nianda hogi. at: yah kary kadapi apake yogh‍y nahian hai. jo log buddhihin, nich kul mean uth‍panh‍n,krur, dirghakal-tak vairabhav banaye rakhane vale, kshatriyochith‍t yuddhavidya mean a‍nabhijn, para‍kramahin aur ashishh‍t hote haian, aise hi sh‍vabhav ke logoan par apattiyaan ati haian.

jo kulahi, balavan, yashash‍vi, bahut vidvan, sukhajivi aur man ko vash mean rakhanevala hai tatha jo parash‍par guanthe hue dharm or adharm ko dharan karata hai, vahi bhagh‍yavash abhishh‍th gun-samh‍patti praph‍t karata hai. ap shreshh‍th mantriyoan ka sevan karane vale haian, sh‍vayan bhi buddhiman haian, apattikal mean dharm aur arth ka uchit roop se prayog karate haian, sab prakar ki achh‍chhi salahoan se bhi ap yukh‍t haian. phir ap-jaise sadhan samh‍panh‍n vidvan purush aisa krooratapoorn kary kaise kar sakate haian? sada karmoan mean niyukh‍t kiye huai ye apake manh‍traveth‍ta manh‍tri karn adi ekatr hokar baithak kiya karate haian. inh‍hoanne[2] jo prabal nishchay kar liya hai, yah avashh‍y hi kauravoan ke bhavi vinash ka karan ban gaya hai.
