dhritarashhtr ne kaha- vidur! tum jo kuchh kah rahe ho, parinam mean hitakar hai; buddhiman log isaka anumodan karate haian. yah bhi thik hai ki jis or dharm hota hai, usi paksh ki jit hoti hai, to bhi maian apane bete ka thyag nahian kar sakata. vidur ji bole- rajan jo adhik gunoan se samhpanhn aur vinayi hai, vah praniyoan ka tanik bhi sanhar hote dekh usaki kabhi upeksha nahian kar sakata. jo doosaroan ki nianda mean hi lage rahate haian, doosaroan ko du:kh dene aur apas mean phoot dalane ke liye sada uthsah ke sath prayathn karate haian, jinaka darshan dosh se bhara[3] hai aur jinake sath rahane mean bhi bahut b da khatara hai, aise logoan se dhan lene mean mahan dosh hai aur unhhean dene mean bahut b da bhay hai. doosaroan mean phoot dalane ka jinaka shvabhav hai, jo kami,nirlajhj, shath aur prasiddh papi haian, ve sath rakhane ke karan ayoghy-niandit mane gaye haian. uparyukht doshoan ke atirikht aur bhi jo mahan dosh haian, unase yukht manushhyoan ka thyag kar dena chahiye. sauhard bhav nivritht ho jane par nich purushoan ka prem nashht ho jata hai, us sauhard se hone vale phal ki siddhi aur sukh ka bhi nash ho jata hai. viduraji kahate hai rajan jo nashht hue dhan ko sthir buddhi ka ashray le achchhi niti se pun: lauta lane ki ichchha karata hai, vah vir purushoan ka-sa acharan karata hai. jo ane vale du:kh ko rokane ka upay janata hai, vartaman kalik kartavy ke palan mean dridh nishchay rakhane vala hai aur atitakal mean jo kartavy shesh rah gaya hai, use bhi janata hai, vah manushhy kabhi arth se hin nahian hota. manushhy man, vani aur karm se jisaka nirantar sevan karata hai, vah kary us purush ko apani or khianch leta hai. isaliye sada kalyanakari karyoan ko hi kare. maangalik padarthoan ka sparsh, chittavrittiyoan ka nirodh, shastr ka abhhyas, udyogashil, saralata aur satpurushoan ka baranbar darshan- ye sab kalyanakari haian. udyog mean lage rahana- usase virkt n hona dhan, labh aur kalyan ka mool hai. isaliye udyog n chho dane vala manushhy mahan ho jata hai aur anant sukh ka upabhog karata hai. tat! samarth purush ke liye sab jagah aur sab samay mean kshama ke saman hitakarak aur atyant shrisampann banane vala upay doosara nahian mana gaya hai. jo shaktihin hai, vah to sab par kshama kare hi jo shaktiman hai, vah bhi dharm ke liye kshama kare tatha jisaki drishti mean arth aur anarth donoan saman haian, usake liye to kshama sada hi hitakarini hoti hai. jis sukh ka sevan karate rahane par bhi manushhy dharm aur arth se bhrashht nahian hota, usaka yatheshht sevan kare.
kiantu moodhavrat[9] n kare. jo du:kh se pi dit, pramadi, nastik, alasi, ajitendriy aur utsah rahit haian, unake yahaan lakshmi ka vas nahian hota. dushht buddhi vale log saralata se yukt aur saralata ke hi karan lajjashil manushhy ko ashakt manakar usaka tiraskar karate haian. atyant shreshhth, atishay dani, ativ shooravir, adhik vrat-niyamoan ka palan karane vale aur buddhi ke ghamand mean choor rahane vale manushhy ke pas lakshhmi bhay ke mare nahian jati. lakshmi n to atyant gunavanoan ke pas rahati hai aur n bahut nirgunoan ke pas. yah n to bahut-se gunoan ko chahati hai aur n gunahin ke prati hi anurag rakhati hai. unmatt gau ki bhaanti yah andhi lakshhmi kahian-kahian hi thaharati hai. vedoan ka phal hai agnihotr karana, shastradhhyayan ka phal hai sushilata aur sadachar, stri ka phal hai ratisukh aur putr ki prapti tatha dhan ka phal hai dan aur upabhog. jo adharm ke dvara kamaye hue dhan se paralaukik karm karata hai, vah marane ke pashhchat usake phal ko nahian pata kyoanki usaka dhan bure raste se aya hota hai. ghor jangal mean, durgam marg mean, kathin apatti ke samay, ghabarahat mean aur prahar ke liye shastr uthe rahane par bhi sattv-sampann arthat atmabal se yukt purushoan ko bhay nahian hota. udyog, sanyam, dakshata, savadhani, dhairy, smriti aur soch-vicharakar karyarambh karana- inhean unnati ka moolamantr samajhiye. tapasviyoan ka bal hai tap, vedavettaoan ka bal hai ved,papiyoan ka bal hai hiansa aur gunavanoan ka bal hai kshama.jal, mool, phal, doodh, ghi, brahman ki ichhchhapoorti, guru ka vachan aur aushadh-ye ath vrat ke nashak nahian hote.[10]
