sambandh gita ke barahavean adhyay ke arambh mean arjun ne sagun aur nirgun upasakoan ki shreshthata ke vishay mean prashn kiya tha, usaka uttar dete hue bhagavan ne doosare shlok mean sankshept mean sagun upasakoan ki shreshtata ka pratipadan karake tisare se paanchave shlok tak nirgun upasana ka svaroop, usaka phal aur dehabhimaniyoan ke liye unake anushthan mean kathinata ka niroopan kiya. tadanantar chhathe se bisavean shlok sagurn upasana mahattv, phal, prakar aur bhagavadbhaktoan ke lakshanoan ka varnan karate karate hi adhyay ki samapti ho gayi; nirgun ka tattv, mahima aur usaki prapti ke sadhanoan ko vistar poorvak nahianan samajhaya gaya. atev nirgun nirakar ka tattv arthat jnan yogy vishay bhalibhaanti samajhane ke liye terahavean adhyay ka arambh kiya jata hai. isamean pahale bhagavan kshetr (sharir) tatha kshetrajn (atma) ke lakshan batalate hai- shri bhagavan bole- he arjun! yah sharir ‘kshetr’[2] is nam se kaha jata hai aur isako jo janata hai, usako ‘kshetrajn’[3] is nam se unake tattvoan ko janane vale jnanijan kahate haian. he arjun! tu sab kshetroan mean kshetrajn arthat jivatma bhi mujhe hi jan[4] aur kshetr-kshetraphal arthat vikarasahit prakriti ka ka aur purush ka jo tattv se janana hai, vah jnan hai- aisa mera mat hai. sambandh- kshetr aur kshetraphal poorn jnan ho jane par sansar ka nash ho jata hai. aur paramatma ki prapti hoti hai, atev ‘kshetr’ aur ‘kshetraphal’ ke svaroop adi ka bhalibhॅati vibhagapoorvak samajhane ke liye bhagavan kahate haian. vah kshetr jo aur jaisa hai tatha jin vikaroan vala hai aur jis karan se jo hua hai tatha vah kshetrajn bhi jo aur jis prabhav vala hai- vah sab sankshep mean mujhase sun-sambandh tisare shlok mean ‘kshetr’ aur kshetrajn mean jis tattv ko sankshep mean sunane ke liye bhagavan ne arjun se kaha- tab usake vishay mean rrishi, ved, aur brahmasootr ki ukti ka praman dekar bhagavan rrishi, ved, aur brahmasootr ko adar dete hai.[1]

yah kshetr aur kshetrajn ka tattv rrishiyoan dvara[5] bahut prakar se kaha gaya hai tatha bhalibhaanti nishchay kiye hue yukti yukt brahmasootr padoan dvara bhi kaha ja sakata hai. paanch mahabhoot aanhakar,[6] buddhi[7] aur mool prakriti[8] bhi; tatha das iandriyaan[9] ek man[10] aur paanch indriyoan ke vishay[11] arthat shabd sparsh, roop, ras aur gandh- tatha ichchha,[12] dvesh,[13] sukh,[14] dukh,[15] deh ka pind, chetana,[16] aur dhriti[17] is prakar vikaroan ke sahit yah kshetr sankshep kaha gaya[18] sambandh is prakar kshetr ke svaroop aur usake vikaro ka varnan karane ke bad ab jo doosare shlok mean yah bat kahi thi ki kshetr aur kshetrajn ka jo jnan hai, vahi mere mat se jnan hai, us jnan ko prapt karane ke sadhanoan ka ‘jnan’ ke hi namase paanch shlokoan dvara varnan karate haian. shreshthata ke abhiman ka abhav, dambhacharan abhav, kisi bhi prani ko kisi prakar bhi n satana,[19] kshama bhav,[20] man vani adi ki saralata,[21] shraddhamukti sahit guru ki seva,[22] bahar-bhitar ki shuddhi[23] antahkaran ki sthirata[24] aur man indriyoan sahit sharir ka nigrah.[25] ek lok aur paralok ke sampoorn bhagoan mean asakti ka abhav aur ahankar ka bhi abhav, janm, mrityu, jara aur rog adi mean duahkh aur doshoan ka bar bar vichar karana.[26] putr, stri, ghar, aur dhan adi mean asakti ka abhav, mamata ka n hona tatha priy aur apriy ki prapti mean sada hi chitt ka sam rahana. mujhe parameshvar mean anany yog ke dvara avyabhicharini bhakti[27] tatha ekant aur shuddh desh mean rahane ka svabhav aur vishayasakt manushyoan ke samuday mean prem ka n hona.[28] adhyatmajnan mean nity sthiti[29] aur tattv jnan ke artharoop paramatma ko hi dekhana[30] yah sab jnan hai.[31] aur jo isase viparit haian, yah ajnan[32] hai- aisa kaha hai.

sambandh- is prakar jnan ke sadhanoan ka ‘jnan’ ke nam se varnan sunane par yah jijnasa ho sakati hai ki in sadhanoan dvara prapt ‘jnan’ se janane yogy vastu kya hai aur use jan lene se kya hota hai. usaka uttar dene ke liye bhagavan ab jane ke yogy vastu ke svaroop ka varnan karane ki pratijna karate hue usake janane ka phal ‘amaratv ki prapti’ batalakar chhah shlokoan mean janane ke yogy paramatma ke svaroop ka varnan karate haian- jo janane yogy hai tatha jisako janakar manushy paramanand ko prapt hota hai, usako bhalibhaanti kahuanga. vah anadi vala param brahm n sath hi kaha jata, n asath.[33]

vah sab or hath-pair vala sab or hath netr, sir aur mukh vala aur sab or kan vala hai;[34] kyoanki vah sansar mean sabako vyapt karake sthit haian.[35] vah sampoorn indriyoan ke vishayoan ko janane vala hai, parantu vastav mean sab indriyoan se rahit hai[36] tatha asakti rahit hone par bhi sabaka dharan- poshan karane vala aur nirgun hone par bhi gunoan ko bhogane vala hai.[37] yah charachar sab bhootoan ke bahar- bhitar paripoorn hai aur char-achararoop bhi vahi hai;[38] evan vah sookshm hone se avijney hai[39] tatha ati samip mean aur door mean bhi sthit hai.[40] vah paramatma vibhagarahit ek roopaye akash ke sadrish paripoorn hone par bhi charachar sampoorn bhootoan mean vibhakt-sa sthit pratit hota hai.[41] tatha vah janane yogy paramatma vishnu roop se bhootoan ko dharan-poshan karane vala rudr roop se sanhar karane vala tatha brahma roop se sabako utpann karane vala hai. vah parabraha jyotiyoan ka bhi jyoti[42] evan maya se atyant pare kaha jata hai. vah paramatma bodhasvaroop, janane ke yogy evan tattvajnan se prapt karane yogy hai[43] aur sabake hriday mean vishesh roop se sthit hai.[44][45] is prakar kshetr tatha jnan aur janane yogy paramatma ka svaroop sankshep se kaha gaya.[46] mera bhakt isako tattv se janakar mere svaroop ko prapt hota hai.[47][48]

  2. jaise khet mean boye hue bijoan ka unake anuroop phal samay par prakat hota hai, vaise hi is sharir mean boye hue karm-sanskar roop bijoan ka kuchh bhi phal samay par prakat hota hai. isake atirikt isaka pratikshan kshay hota rahata hai, isaliye bhi ise ‘kshetr’ kahate hai aur isiliye gita ke pandrahavean adhyay ke solahavean shlok mean isaka ‘kshar’ purush kaha gaya hai.
  3. isake bhagavan ne aantaratma drashta ka lakshy karavaya hai. man, buddhi, iandriy, mahabhut aur iandriyoan ke vishay adi jitana bhi shray (janane me ane vala) drishyavarg hai- sab j d़, vinashi, parirvatanashil hai. chetan atma us j d़ hadayavarg se sarvatha vilakshan hai. yah usaka jnata hai, usamean anusyoot hai aur unaka adhipati hai. isiliye use ‘kshetrajn’ kahate haian isi jnata ko gita ke satavean adhyay mean ‘para prakriti’ (gita 7:5) athavean adhyay mean ‘adhyatm’ (gita 8:9) aur pandravean adhyay mean ise ‘akshar purush’ (gita 15:16) kaha jata hai. yah atmatattv b da hi gahan hai, isi se bhagavan ne mitr-mitr prakaranoan ke dvara kahian-kahian strivachak, kahian napuansakavachak, kahian purushavachak nam se inaka varnan kiya hai. vastav mean atmavikar se sarvatha, rahit, aliang, nity, nirvikar evan chetan-jnanasvaroop hai.
  4. isaki ‘atma’ aur ‘paramatma’ ki ekata ka prativadan kiya. atma aur paramatma mean vastutah kuchh bhi bhed nahianan hai, prakriti ke sang se bhed-sa pratit hota hai; isaliye gita ke doosare adhyay ke chaubisavean aur pachchisavean shlokoan mean atma ke svaroop ka varnan karate hue jin shabdoan ka prayog kiya hai, barahavean adhyay ke tisare shlok mean nirgun-nirakar paramatma ke lakshanoan ka varnan karate samay bhi prayah unhian ke bhavoan ke ghotak shabdoan ka prayog kiya jata hai.
  5. mantroan ke drashta evan shastr aur smritiyoan ke rachayita rrishiganoan ne ‘kshetr aur kshetrajn’ ke svaroop ko aur unase sambandh rakhane vali sabhi batoan ko apane apane granthoan mean aur puran- itihas bahut prakar se varnan karake vistarapoorvak samajhaya hai; unhian ka sar yahaan bahut tho de shabdoan mean bhagavan kahate haian.
  6. yah samashti aant karan ek bhed hai. ahankar hi panchatanmatraoan, man aur samast iandriyoan ka karan tatha mahattattv ka kary hai. isi ko ‘aanhabhav’ bhi kahate haian. yahaan ahankar shabd usi ka vachak hai.
  7. jise ‘mahattattv’ (mahan) aur samashti buddhi bhi kahate haian, jo samashti ant:karan ka ek bhed hai, nishchay hi jisaka svaroop hai- usako yahaan 'buddhi' kaha gaya hai.
  8. yahaan avyakt ka arth mool prakriti samajhana chahiye, jo mahattattv adi samast padarthoan ki karanaroopa hai, saankhyashastr mean jisako pradhan kahate haian, bhagavan ne gita ke chaudahavean adhyay ke tisare shlok mean jisaki mahadbraha kaha hai tatha is adhyay ke unnisavean shlok mean jisako prakriti nam diya gaya hai.
  9. vakh, pani(hath), pad (pair), upasth aur guda paanch karmendriyaan hai. tatha shrotr, tvacha, chakshu, rasana, aur ghran yah paanch jnanendriyaan hai. yah sab milakar das indriyaan haian. in sabaka karan ahankar hai.
  10. yahaan ek shabd se us man ko hi batalaya gaya hai. jo samashti antahkaran manan karane vali shakti-vishesh hai, sankalp-vikalp hi jisaka svaroop hai. ve bhi ahankar ka kary hai.
  11. yahaan ‘panch indriyagocharaah’ padoan ka arth shabd, sparsh, roop, ras aur gandh samajhana chahiye, jo ki paanchoan jnanendriyoan ke sthool vishay hai. yah sookshm bhootoan ke kary haian.
  12. jin padarthaean ko manushy sukh ke hetu aur duahkhanashak samajhata hai. un ko prapt karane ki aptiyukt jo kamana hai- jise vasana, trina, asha, lalasa, aur spriha adi anek bhed hai- usi ka vachan yahaan ichchha shabd hai.
  13. jin padarthoan ko manushy dukh mean hetu ya sukh mean badhak samajhata hai. unamean jo virodh buddhi hoti hai- usaka nam dvesh haian. isake sthool roop vair, eershya, ghrina aur krodh adi hai.
  14. anukool ki prapti aur pratikool ki nivriti se antahkaran mean jo prasannata ki vriti hoti hai, usaka nam ‘sukh’ hai.
  15. pratikool prapti aur anukool ke vinash se jo antahkaran mean jo vyakulata hoti hai, jise vyatha bhi kahate haian- usaka vachan ‘dukh’ hai.
  16. antah karan mean jo jnan shakti hai, jisake dvara prani sukh dukh aur samast padarthaean ka anubhav karate haian, jise gita ke dasavean adhyay mean baeesavean shlok me ‘chetana’ kaha gaya hai. -usi ka vachak yahaan ‘chetana’ hai, ye bhi aant:karan ki vriti vishesh hai; atev isaki bhi ganana kshetr ke vikaroan me ki gayi hai.
  17. gita ke atharavean adhyay mean taiantisavean, chauantisavean, aur paiantisavean shlok mean jis dharan shakti ke sattvik, rajas aur tamas- tin bhed kiye gaye haian, usi ka vachan yahaan ‘dhriti’ hai. antah karan ka vikar hone se isaki ganana bhi kshetr ke vikaroan me ki gayi hai.
  18. yahaan tak vikaroan sahit kshetr ka sankshept mean varnan ho gaya hai, arthat paanchavean shlok mean kshetr ka svaroop sankshep mean batala diya gaya aur chhathe mean us ke vikaroan ka varnan sankshep mean kar diya gaya hai.
  19. kisi bhi prani man vani ya sharir se kisi prakar ki kami kasht dena- man se kisi ka bura chahana, vani se kisi ko gali dena, kathor vachan kahana, kisi ki nianda karana, ya any kisi prakar ke duahkh dayak aur ahit-karak vachan kah dena; sharir se kisi ko marana, kasht pahuanchana ya kisi prakar se bhi hani pahuanchana adi jo hiansa ke bhav haian, in sabake sarvada abhav ka nam ‘ahiansa’ arthat kisi bhi prani ko kisi prakar bhi n satana hai.
  20. apana aparadh karane vale ke liye kisi bhi prakar bhi dand dene ka bhav man mean n rakhana, usase badala lene ki athava aparadh ke badale use is lok ya paralok mean dand mile- aisi ichchha n rakhana aur usake aparadhoan ko vastutah aparadh hi n manakar unhean sarvatha bhula dena ‘kshamabhav’ hai. gita ke dasavean adhyay ke chauthean shlok mean isaki kuchh vistar se vyakhya ki gayi hai.
  21. jis sadhak mean man, vani aur sharir ki saralata ka bhav poorn roop se a jata hai, vah sabake sath saralata ka vyavahar karata hai; usamean kutilata ka sarvatha abhav ho jata hai. arthat usake vyavahar mean dav-peanch, kapat ya te dapan jara bhi nahianan rahata; vah bahar aur bhitar ne saman aur saral rahata hai.
  22. vidya aur sadupadesh dene vale guru ka nam ‘archay’ aise guru ke pas rahakar shraddha- bhaktipoorvak, man,vani aur sharir ke dvara sab prakar se unako sukh pahuanchane ki cheshta karana, namaskar karana, unaki ajnaoan ka palan karana aur unake anukul acharan karana adi ‘acharyopasan’ yani guru seva hai.
  23. satyatapoorvak shuddh vyavahar se dravy ki shuddhi hoti hai, us dravy se uparjit ann se ahar ki shuddhi hoti hai. yathayogy shuddh bartav se acharanoan ki shuddhi hoti hai. aur jal- mitti adi ke dvara prakshalanadi kriya se sharir ki shuddhi hoti hai. yah sab bahar ki shuddhi hai. rag- dvesh, chhal, kapat, adi vikaroan ka nash hokar antahkaran svachchh ho jana bhitar ki shuddhi hai. donoan hi prakar ki shuddhi ko ‘shauch’ kaha jata hai.
  24. b de-se-b de kasht, vipatti ya duahkh ke a p dane par bhi vichalit n hona evan kam, krodh, bhay, lobh, adi se kisi bhi prakar apane dharm aur kartavy se jara bhi n digana tatha man aur buddhi mean kisi tarah ki chanchalata ka n rahana ‘antahkaran ki sthirata’ hai.
  25. yahaan atma se antahkaran aur indriyoan ke ke sahit sharir ko samajhana chahie. atah in sab ko bhali-bhaanti apane vash mean kar lena hi isaka nigrah karana hai.
  26. janm ka kasht sahaj nahianan hai; pahale to asahay jiv ko mata ke garbh mean lanbe samay tak bhaanti-bhaanti ke klesh hote haian, phir janm ke samay yoni dvar se nikalanean mean asahy yantrana bhogani p dati hai. nana prakar ki yoni mean bar bar janm grahan karane mean ye janm-duahkh hote haian. mrityukal mean bhi mahan kasht hota hai. jis sharir aur ghar mean ajivan mamata rahi, use balatkar se chho dakar jana p data hai. maranasamay ke nirash netroan ko aur sharirik pi da ko dekhakar us samay ki yantrana ka bahut kuchh anuman lagaya ja sakata hai. budhape ki yantrana bhi kam nahianan hoti hai; indriyaan shithil aur shaktihin ho jati hai. hai, sharir jarjar ho jata hai. man mean nity lalasa ki tarangean uchhalati rahati hai, asahay avastha ho jati hai. aisi avastha mean jo kasht hota hai, yah b da hi bhayanak hota hai. isi prakar bimari ki pi da bhi b di duahkhadayini hoti hai. sharir kshin ho gaya, nana prakar ke asahy kasht ho rahe haian, doosaro ki adhinata haian. niroopay sthiti hai. yahi sab janm, mrityu, jara aur vyadhi ke duahkh hai. in duahkhoan ka bar bar smaran karana aur in par vichar karana hi inamean duahkhoan ka dekhana hai. jivoan ka janm, mrityu, jara, vyadhi, prapt hote haian, papoan ke parinamasvaroop; atev ye charoan hi doshamay hai. isi ka bar bar vichar karana inamean doshoan ko dekhana hai.
  27. bhagavan hi sarvashreshth hai aur ve hi hamare svami, sharan grahan karane yogy, paramagati, param ashray, mata- pita, bhaee-bandhu, param hitakari, param atmiy aur sarvasv haian; unako chho dakar hamara any koee bhi nahianan hai- is bhav se jo bhagavan ke sath anany sambandh hai, usaka nam ‘anany yog’ hai. tatha is prakar ke sambandh se keval bhagavan mean hi atal aur poorn vishuddh prem karake nirantar bhagavan ka hi bhajan, dhyan karate rahana hi anany yog ke dvara bhagavan mean avyabhi-charini bhakti karana hai.

  29. atma nity, chetan, nirvikar aur avinashi hai; usase bhinn jo nashavan, j d, vikari aur parivartanashil vastuean pratit hoti haian- ve sab anatma haian, atma ka unase kuchh bhi sambandh nahian hai, shastr aur achary ke upadesh se is prakar atmatattv ko bhali-bhaanti samajh lena hi ‘adhyatmajnan’ hai aur buddhi mean thik vaisa hi dri d nishchay karake man se us atmatattv ko nity-nirantar manan karate rahana ‘adhyatmajnan mean nity sthit rahana’ hai.
  30. tattv jnan ka arth hai- sachchidanandadhan poorn brahm paramatma; kyoanki tattvajnan se unhian ki prapti hoti hai. un sachchidanandaghan gunatit paramatma ka sarvatr samabhav se nity-nirantar anubhav karate rahana hi us arth ka darshan karana hai.
  31. ‘amanitvamh’ se lekar ‘tattvajnanarthadarshanamh’ tak jinaka varnan kiya gaya hai, ve sabhi jnan prapti ke sadhan haian, isiliye unaka nam bhi ‘jnan’ rakha gaya hai. abhipray yah hai ki doosare shlok mean bhagavan ne jo yah bat kahi hai ki kshetr aur kshetrajn ka jo jnan hai, vahi mere mat se jnan hai- is kathan se koee aisa n samajh le ki sharir ka nam ‘kshetr’ aur isake aandar rahane vala jnata atma ka nam ‘kshetraphal’ hai- yah bat hamane samajh hi li; bas, hamean jnan prapt ho gaya; kiantu vastav mean sachcha jnan vahi hai jo uparyukt bis sadhanoan ke dvara kshetr-kshetrajn ke svaroop ko yatharth roop se jan lene par hota hai. isi bat ko samajhane ke liye yahaan sadhanoan ko ‘jnan’ ke nam se kaha gaya hai. atev jnani mean upayukt gunoan ka samavesh pahale se hi hona avashyak hai, parantu yah avashyak nahian hai ki ye sabhi gun sabhi sadhakoan mean ek hi samay mean ho. avashy hi, inamean jo ‘amanitv’, ‘adambhitv’ adi bahut se sabake upayogi gun haian, ve to sabamean rahate hi haian. inake atirikt ‘avyabhicharini bhakti’, ‘ekantadeshasevitv’, ‘adhyatmajnananityatv’, ‘tattvajnanarthadarshan’- inamean apani-apani sadhan shaili ke anusar vikalp bhi ho sakata hai.
  32. uparyukt amanitvadi gunoan se viparit jo man-badhaee kamana, dambh, hiansa, krodh, kapat, kutilata, droh, apavitrata, asthirata, lolupata, asakti, ahanta, mamata, vishamata, ashraddha, aur kusang adi dosh hai, ve sabhi janm-mrityu ke hetu bhoot ajnan ko badhane vale aur jivan ka patan karane vale haian; isaliye ve sab ajnan hi haian. atev un sabaka sarvatha tyag karana chahie.
  33. jo vastu pramanoan dvara siddh ki jati hai, use ‘sath’ kahate hai svatah praman nity avinashi paramatma kisi bhi praman dvara siddh nahian kiya ja sakata ; kyoanki paramatma se hi sabaki siddhi hoti hai, paramatma tak kisi bhi praman ki pahuanch nahian hai. vah pramanoan dvara janane mean ane vali vastuoan se atyant vilakshan haian, isaliye paramatma ko ‘sath’ nahian kaha ja sakata tatha jis vastu ka vastav mean astitv nahian hota, use ‘asath’ kahate hai; kiantu parabrahm paramatma ka astitv nahian hai, aisi bat nahian hai. vah avashy hai aur vah hai- isi se any sab ko hona bhi siddh hota hai; atah use ‘asath’ bhi nahian kaha ja sakata. isiliye paramatma ‘sath’ aur ‘asath’ donoan se hi pare haian. yadyapi gita me navam adhyay ke unnasivean shlok mean to bhagavan ne kaha hai ki ‘sath’ bhi mean huan aur ‘asath’ bhi maian huan aur yahaan yah kahate haian ki us janane yogy paramatma ko n ‘sath’ kaha ja sakata hai. aur n ‘asath’ ; kiantu yahaan vidhi-mukh se varnan hai, isaliye bhagavan ka kahana hai ki ‘sath’ bhi mean hooan aur ‘asath’ bhi mean hooan, uchit hi hai. par yahaan nishedhamukh se varnan hai, kiantu vastav mean us par brahm paramatma ka svaroop vani ke dvara n to vidhi mukh se batalaya ja sakata hai aur n nishedhamukh se hi. usake vishay mean jo kuchh bhi kaha jata hai, sab keval shakhachandranyay se use lakshy karane ke liye hi hai, usake sakshat svaroop ka varnan vani dvara ho hi nahian sakata. shruti bhi kahati hai- ‘yato vacho nivartante aprapy manasa sah’ (taittiriy up. 2/9) arthat ‘man ke sahit vani jise n pakar vapas laut ati hai. (vah brahm hi )’ isi bat ko spasht karane ke liye yahaan bhagavan nishedhamukh se kaha hai ki vah n ‘sath’ kaha jata hai aur n ‘asath’ hi. arthat maian jis jneyavastu ka varnan karana chahata hooan, usaka vastavik svaroop to man-vina avishay hai; atah usaka jo kuchh bhi varnan kiya jayaga, use usaka tatasth lakshan hi samajhana chahiye.
